Rememberance Day
This Sunday is Remembrance Day. On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month the guns shall fall silent. With that, the First World War ended. Ever since then we have used this day to remember the sacrifice of Canadian soldiers who have given their life for the freedom of the country. I think what stands out for me every year is that the numbers of veterans is dwindling and that their stories may be lost. from the Korean War Memorial the words of Freedom is never Free ring true. So on November 11th give a thought for those that fought for your freedom.
IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
